Curator's notes about Modigliani (+)
Amedeo Modigliani (July 12, 1884 - January 24, 1920) was an Italian painter and sculptor known for his distinctive portraiture. His portraits and nudes are characterized by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures - works that were not received well during his lifetime. Notable works include "Portrait of Jeanne Hébuterne," "Iris Tree," and "Portrait of Pablo Picasso." Modigliani's artistic style blends elements of Post-Impressionism and African art influences. He contributed significantly to modern art by breaking from traditional representation, gaining widespread acclaim posthumously.
This curated collection includes some of Modigliani's most famous and recognized artwork, as well as some lesser known pieces that we consider ideal for personal collectors. All framed art prints and canvas prints are created from high resolution source files of the original Modigliani paintings.
