Frequently Asked Questions
What's a reproduction?
A reproduction is, in essence, a copy. How that copy is created determines its quality. We are committed to reproducing art in detail, on superior materials. Our art prints and canvases are created from high resolution sources, and giclée printed to maintain the highest possible detail.
We believe in preserving the color, scale, proportions and textures as created by the artist, as well as reproducing the art as it is seen today. This includes leaving intact all the cracks, marks, fading, personality and character which, in total, constitute a true reproduction of the art.
Why "without a frame"? Can I get a frame?
Frames tend to be ornamental, distracting the viewer from the art. Our focus is to reproduce art on materials that require no framing, i.e. without a frame.
But yes, we offer modern frames intended to complement any art. Plus you are welcome to order the base material (e.g. fine art paper, rolled canvas), take it to a framer, or frame it yourself.
Why don't you offer standard sizes like 8x10?
Few original works of art match a standard size like 8x10″ or 18x24″. Our prints and canvases are true to scale reproductions.
We offer standard heights (12/16/20/24/30″) with widths based on the proportions of the original art down to ¼″. Standard heights means that you can coordinate multiple works in your home gallery.
Contact us if you are seeking a custom size and we'll try to make it happen!
What is giclée?
Giclée is the term for digital fine art prints produced by high-end inkjet printers on archival quality substrates. Prints are created with 12 different color cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, matte black, light magenta, light cyan, light gray, very light gray, orange, green, and violet) to provide the widest possible color gamut for the best possible reproduction.
When (and how) will my order ship?
Order to delivery will take about two weeks. We want to produce a quality artwork for you and ship it securely, this takes time. Every order is important to us and we will do everything to expedite the process.
- Production of your art can take about 5 business days, and shipping 5-8 business days.
- Multiple items may ship at different times or from different locations to expedite fulfillment of your order. We commonly use UPS, Fedex and USPS depending on the item and potential ship time. Tracking numbers will be provided.
- Stretched canvas and framed art will ship flat, safely packaged in a box about ~5″ larger than your art.
- Rolled canvas and art prints will ship in tube or triangular mailers.
- Blankets and pillows will ship in soft packaging.
- We use a combination of cardboard and plastic (to protect the art from potential exposure), and foam corners (to protect from impacts). Please keep the packaging if you intend to store or transfer your art.
What is your return policy?
We have a refund or replace policy. We do not accept return shipments. But we will do everything we can to make a problem right. Please contact us immediately if there are any problems with your order. For damage or misprints, we will ask for photo proof, then refund or replace the item to your satisfaction.
How long will my art last?
You art will last for generations. Our art is giclée printed with aqueous pigment or eco-solvent inks on archival-grade, acid-free substrates. Meaning your art will resist fading and discoloration for over 100 years.
How do I care for my art?
- Dust your art with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster.
- Indoor display is best, avoid direct sunlight and humid areas.
- Frames: for stubborn dirt only, wipe gently with a damp cloth or gentle cleaner on wood surfaces only, avoid getting liquids on the paper or canvas surface.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive tools that may damage the art or frame.
- Storage and transport: keep the original shipping box and packing materials, or use similar materials to protect the corners and surface.
Is this a painting? Is it a forgery?
No. We sell giclée reproductions, which are high resolution inkjet prints using 12 different color cartridges (CMYK plus 8 additional colors for depth and vibrancy). This combined with the high resolution of our source images can make brush strokes and dabs of paint in the original art appear very dimensional even though it is a flat print. And it is not a forgery as we make no claim that any art we sell is anything but a reproduction.
Is it currently the year 1727?
Phantom time theory hypothesizes that Holy Roman Emperor Otto III (980 - 1002) had his chroniclers fake 297 years of history because he wanted to be the emperor in the year 1000, and that the years circa 614-911 did not exist. This would require a systematic alteration, misrepresentation and forgery of documentary and physical evidence in the time of Emperor Otto III, and since.
Claims supporting this are:
- Unlike any other period in history, architecture, ceramics and thought made virtually no advances - this is why it is called the 'Dark Ages.'
- There is no archaeological evidence which can be reliably dated to this period; there is a very limited number of written sources.
- The Pope introduced the new Gregorian calendar in 1582 to replace the Julian calendar, when it was 10 days out of sync. An error in the Julian calendar lost about 3 days every 400 years. However, had this error been in affect since the introduction of the Julian calendar in 45 BC, it should to have been 12 days out of sync (1600y/400, 4*3 =12 days, vs 1300y/400 3.25*3 =9.75 days) so the intervening period must have been overstated by 297 years.
- The range of achievements credited to the only person of any note for this period, Charlemagne (742 - 814): architect, astronomer, educator, philosopher, folklorist, lawmaker, statesman; is so great that he could only be a mythical figure.
However, it is currently the year 2024.
