About A Walk at Dusk
A Walk at Dusk (1835) by Caspar David Friedrich explores the spiritual elements of nature alongside the themes of life and death. It depicts a man in red robes walking alone towards a megalithic tomb, surrounded by leafless trees. A waxing moon high above counterbalances the dead of winter with the promise of a new beginning. Friedrich once said "Why, the question is often asked of me, do you choose death and the grave as subjects for painting? In order to one day live eternally, one must often submit oneself to death."
- All sizes given are in inches (″), assembled within a ¼″ tolerance.
- Unframed art prints have a ½″ white margin, ex. an 8x12″ print's final dimensions will be 9x13″.
- Framed art prints are ~2″ larger, ex. an 8x12″ print's final framed dimensions will be ~10x14″ overall.
- Frames are ¾″ (black) or ⅞″ (natural, espresso, gold) wide viewed from the front, and 1⅛″ deep; frames will overlap the print edges ~¼″.
