Adoration of the Mystic Lamb ☰ Van Eyck ☲ Art Print
The Ghent Altarpiece (1432, De aanbidding van het Lam Gods) by brothers Jan and Hubert van Eyck, also known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, is a large and complex polyptych altarpiece in St Bavo's Cathedral, Ghent, Belgium. The altarpiece is a prominent example of the transition from Middle Age to Renaissance art, described as "the first major oil painting."
The central panel is titled Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, depicting a meadow with an altar on which the Lamb of God stands, a wound on its chest gushing blood into a golden chalice. The meadow is framed by trees and bushes with the spires of Jerusalem visible in the background. The altar is surrounded by 14 angels, in the foreground is the Fountain of Life, and above the dove of the Holy Spirit. Four groups gather around the altar, clockwise beginning top left: the male martyrs, the female martyrs, the male saints, and the pagan writers and Jewish prophets. The iconography suggested by these groupings follows the liturgy of All Saints' Day.

Art prints are created from a giclée print on archival heavyweight paper that can be mounted in a frame. Different paper finishes allow you to customize the appearance: smooth paper maintains detail and color; textured paper slightly softens color with a traditional paper finish; and resin coated paper slightly deepens color adding a semi-gloss finish. Framed prints do not come with protective glass / glazing, to showcase the paper and reduce light reflection (it is available upon request).
