Cape Cod Evening ☵ Hopper ☳ Art Print
Cape Cod Evening (1939) by Edward Hopper depicts a woman and man in front of a Victorian house, surrounded by trees and long grass. The man is unsuccessfully attempting to summon a collie standing in the yard, alerted by something out of sight. Hopper described the scene as "pieced together from sketches and mental impressions ... the dry, blowing grass can be seen from my studio window in the late summer or autumn ... the dog is listening to something, probably a whippoorwill or some evening sound." Typical of his paintings, the setting and representation of the subjects cast a melancholy if not ominous mood over a commonplace scene.

Art prints are created from a giclée print on archival heavyweight paper that can be mounted in a frame. Different paper finishes allow you to customize the appearance: smooth paper maintains detail and color; textured paper slightly softens color with a traditional paper finish; and resin coated paper slightly deepens color adding a semi-gloss finish. Framed prints do not come with protective glass / glazing, to showcase the paper and reduce light reflection (it is available upon request).
Giclée printed with aqueous pigment inks to resist fading for over 100 years
