Myself, Portrait-Landscape ☷ Rousseau ☰ Art Print
Myself, Portrait-Landscape (1890, Moi-même, portrait-paysage) by Henri Rousseau is a self-portrait titled to claim equal status between the typically distinct genres of portraits and landscapes. Rousseau is wearing the insignia of the Ordre des Palmes académiques as a buttonhole pin, which was awarded to a namesake of his but never to him, and holding a palette bearing the names of his two wives "Clémence et Josephine!" He stands as an oversized figure against an urban background featuring the original cast iron Pont du Carrousel bridge and the newly constructed Eiffel Tower. In the sky appears a shadow of a hot air balloon, and a red sun behind a cloud inspired by Jean-Léon Gérôme's 1884 painting Les deux majestés.

Art prints are created from a giclée print on archival heavyweight paper that can be mounted in a frame. Different paper finishes allow you to customize the appearance: smooth paper maintains detail and color; textured paper slightly softens color with a traditional paper finish; and resin coated paper slightly deepens color adding a semi-gloss finish. Framed prints do not come with protective glass / glazing, to showcase the paper and reduce light reflection (it is available upon request).
