About Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun
Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun (1889) by Vincent van Gogh is one at least 15 paintings of olive trees created during his time in the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence asylum. He painted the asylum gardens, and nearby olive trees, cypresses and wheat fields when he had permission to venture outside the walls. Unlike the other olive trees representations, this painting depicts a bright, vibrant sun, the yellow sky contrasted against the green trees, with mountains in the background.
